Work package leader: Ervin Bossanyi, DNV GL
Wind turbine control has received a great deal of attention over several decades, and although the control of modern variable-speed pitch-regulated turbines has achieved a high degree of maturity in the industry, new demands are now being placed on controller functionality to satisfy the need for economic optimisation of whole wind plant operation over the lifetime, taking into account the effect of turbines on each other through wake effects, the possibility to reduce O&M costs and extend plant lifetimes, and the demands of the electrical grid as wind power penetration on the system increases. In this work package, new controller functionality for addressing these demands will be developed and tested, both in simulation and in the field.
Overall goal: Enhance wind turbine control with control time steps < 1 second
